Privacy
the news now is a static news site. It has no accounts, no comments, and collects nothing about you by default. This page describes the few places data is involved at all.
Analytics, only with consent
The site uses Google Analytics to count visits, and only after you accept on the consent bar. Until you accept, no analytics script is loaded and Google is never contacted. Your answer is stored in your browser's localStorage, not in a cookie, and declining leaves no tracker of any kind.
If you accepted and change your mind, clearing this site's data in your browser resets the choice.
Hosting
Pages are served from object storage behind Cloudflare. Like every web host, these providers keep standard server logs (IP address, requested URL, time) to operate and secure the service. We do not enrich, cross-reference or sell them.
Newsletter
If you subscribe to the email digest, your address goes to Mailchimp, which sends it. It is used for the digest and nothing else, and every email carries an unsubscribe link that removes it.
YouTube channel and Google user data
the news now publishes a daily news video on its own YouTube channel. The software that uploads it ("the news now" uploader) uses YouTube API Services and is used only by us, to publish to our own channel.
What it accesses: the app requests a single Google OAuth permission, youtube.upload, which allows it to upload videos and set their metadata (title, description, thumbnail) on the one channel that authorized it. It does not request or use any other scope, and it cannot read your Google account, your viewing history, your subscriptions or anything about any other YouTube user.
What it collects and stores: nothing about viewers or any third party. The only Google data it holds is the OAuth credential for our own channel, stored encrypted at rest on the single machine that produces the videos, used solely to perform the upload, and revocable at any time at https://myaccount.google.com/permissions.
What it shares: nothing. No Google user data is sold, transferred or shared with anyone, and none is used for advertising, profiling or any purpose beyond uploading our own videos.
Retention and deletion: the OAuth credential is kept only for as long as the channel publishes videos, and is deleted from the machine when it is revoked or no longer needed. Revoking the app's access at https://myaccount.google.com/permissions invalidates it immediately. No other Google user data is retained, so there is nothing else to delete.
