Brazil's external accounts recorded a deficit of US$ 8.1 billion in July 2026, according to data released by the Banco Central on Thursday. This figure represents the largest deficit for the month of July since 2019 and exceeded the US$ 6.6 billion deficit projected by a Reuters poll of specialists. The deficit for the same period in 2025 was US$ 6.9 billion. Over the 12 months ending in July, the current transactions deficit totaled US$ 62.9 billion, which is equivalent to 2.49% of the country's Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
