Lean is where the outlet sits in its OWN country's politics, never on one global scale.

Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.

Every source for this story reports from Brazil.

Caixa Econômica Federal will distribute R$ 13.042 billion in profits from the Length-of-Service Guarantee Fund (FGTS) to 138.2 million workers. This amount represents 89% of the fund's total profit for 2025, which was reported as either R$ 14.6 billion or R$ 14.7 billion depending on the source. The distribution follows a decision by the Supreme Federal Court (STF) in ADI 5.090 and will result in a rentability of 6.90%, surpassing the 2025 IPCA inflation rate of 4.26%.

While law mandates that these values be deposited into linked accounts by August 31, Caixa is expected to anticipate payments for next week. The credit corresponds to an increase of 1.87% in the yield of each account for workers who held a balance as of December 31 last year. In 2025, the FGTS saw its highest historical collection at R$ 212 billion, although worker turnover led to an 18% increase in withdrawals compared to 2024.

The growth in profit—estimated by some sources as a 7.7% increase over 2024's R$ 13.6 billion—is attributed to a 33.4% rise in income from loans and financing. Total assets of the FGTS reached R$ 837.7 billion in 2025, an 8.7% increase over the previous year's total of R$ 770.5 billion.

Outlets with center and center-left leans framed the event as a direct benefit to workers, providing detailed tables on payment amounts and instructions for using the FGTS app to check balances. In contrast, other center-lean coverage focused on the fund's financial performance, emphasizing asset growth and the specific drivers of profit increase.

How each side framed it

Centre-left
