Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.

Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.

Hong Kong conglomerate CK Hutchison has initiated international arbitration proceedings against Panama, seeking more than US$1.5 billion in damages. The dispute follows the Panamanian government's takeover of two strategic ports at the entrances to the Panama Canal: the Pacific port of Balboa and the Atlantic port of Cristobal. The company alleges that Panama breached an investment protection treaty and international law, resulting in the destruction of its investments.

The conflict stems from a January ruling by the Panama Supreme Court, which declared the concession contract for the ports unconstitutional and annulled it. The government subsequently took control of the terminals on February 23. This legal action is separate from a contractual arbitration filed by CK Hutchison's subsidiary, Panama Ports Company, which is seeking at least US$2 billion in damages. Combined, the total demands for the takeover exceed US$3.5 billion.

Reports on the motivations behind the takeover vary. A center left source attributes the decision to broader tensions between Washington and Beijing, noting claims by US President Donald Donald Trump that China effectively ran the canal. A center right source focuses on the company's perspective, quoting the conglomerate's claim that Panama has become a risky country that disregards the rule of law.
