Colombian Forward Miguel Ángel Borja Joins Club América

Colombian striker Miguel Ángel Borja has officially joined Club América in Mexico. The 33 year old forward was presented on Thursday as a reinforcement for the team following his tenure with Al Wasl in the United Arab Emirates. Borja has a diverse professional history including stints at River Plate, Palmeiras, Gremio, and several Colombian clubs such as Atlético Nacional and Junior.

Reports indicate that the negotiation moved quickly due to Borja's own desire to join the club. He worked with his representative, Juan Pablo Pachón, to finalize the move. According to one report, the transfer was influenced by Borja's desire to move his four children away from the regional tensions and missile attacks in the Middle East. This personal priority reportedly led him to accept a lower salary than he earned in the Emirates. The financial terms of the deal include a one year contract valued at approximately 2 million dollars with an annual salary near 3 million dollars.
