Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge Calls for Youth Education and Employment Roadmap

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge called for the formulation of a comprehensive and time bound Education-to-Employment Roadmap for the youth during a Congress Working Committee meeting on Wednesday. Speaking at Indira Bhawan, Kharge accused the Modi government of destroying the future of students over the last 12 years. He cited the closure of 94,000 schools, the rising cost of privatized higher education, and the influence of RSS affiliates in educational institutions as key issues. Kharge further alleged that graduates face paper leaks, recruitment exam scams, and appointment delays, which he stated have forced youth to take to the streets. He highlighted Rahul Gandhi's Chhatron ki Goonj programme as a means of bringing these grievances to the national stage.

The center-right source frames the initiative as a strategic effort to position the party as the primary champion for Gen Z voters ahead of assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh and Punjab. The center-left source frames the event as a broader demand for accountability, including Kharge's accusations regarding a scam involving Ram temple donations and concerns over Chinese encroachment along borders. Regarding the temple donations, Kharge demanded an apology from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and a full accounting of the gold, silver, and valuables received by the trust.
