Drone and Gun Attacks Target Government Buildings in Rioblanco, Tolima

The mayor's office and a police station in the municipality of Rioblanco, located in the south of Tolima, were attacked with drones and gunfire on Sunday. Governor Adriana Magali Matiz confirmed that there were no injuries resulting from the offensive. Residents reported explosions and exchanges of gunfire, particularly in the rural area of Las Palomas, which forced some citizens to remain sheltered in their homes. The Colombian Army's Fifth Division attributed the attack to the Ismael Ruiz Front, a dissident group of the FARC, stating that the use of explosive devices launched from drones constitutes a violation of International Humanitarian Law.

Governor Matiz called for an urgent increase in the presence of public forces and requested that authorities evaluate the implementation of a curfew to protect the population. She stated that the perpetrators intend to spread fear among the inhabitants. This incident follows a series of similar attacks in the region, including reports of offensives against military bases in Planadas and Ataco on August 7.
