Former Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov is seeking investment from US venture capitalists, private investors, and technology companies to establish a new defense technology fund. According to an interview with the Financial Times, the fund would invest in Ukrainian defense startups and create new companies focused on battlefield technologies, specifically battlefield robotics, low cost missiles equipped with artificial intelligence, and high speed interceptor drones. Fedorov proposed a direct exchange with the United States, offering to help Washington develop its drone capabilities in return for Patriot missile interceptors to protect Ukraine from Russian attacks this winter.
Fedorov has been traveling internationally, including visits to Italy and the United States, following his dismissal by President Volodymyr Zelensky during a Cabinet reshuffle. In Italy, he agreed to serve as an unpaid adviser to Defense Minister Guido Crosetto on modern warfare technologies. Fedorov also mentioned remaining in close contact with SpaceX CEO Elon Musk. Regarding his political standing, Fedorov defended his recent call for wartime elections, stating the move was intended to update the state operating system rather than replace Zelensky.
