Fugitive Gangster Goldy Brar Claims Responsibility for Killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar

Fugitive gangster Goldy Brar has claimed responsibility for the killing of Khalistan separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in an audio clip shared on social media. The authenticity of the recording has not been independently verified. In the clip, Brar is purportedly speaking to Khalistan militant Paramjit Singh Pamma, claiming that he and his associates killed Nijjar because the separatist had been using and blackmailing young people to sell drugs.

Nijjar, a Canadian citizen and head of the Khalistan Tiger Force, was shot dead outside a gurdwara in Surrey, British Columbia, on June 18, 2023. His death triggered a severe diplomatic row between India and Canada after then Prime Minister Justin Trudeau alleged that Canadian authorities had credible evidence linking Indian government officials to the murder. India rejected these allegations as absurd and motivated, maintaining it had no involvement. More recently, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police stated they found no evidence linking Indian government officials to the killing, and both nations are working to repair relations.

Brar, whose real name is Satinderjeet Singh, is wanted in India and is designated as a terrorist under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. He is also wanted for the 2022 killing of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala. In the United States, a federal indictment has charged Brar and jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi in connection with the Nijjar murder. The FBI has offered a reward of up to $50,000 for information leading to Brar's arrest. Additionally, four Indian citizens are facing trial in Canada on charges of first degree murder and conspiracy related to the case.
