India and China Hold High Level Talks on Border Delimitation and Peace

Indian National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met in Beijing for the 25th round of Special Representatives talks to discuss boundary delimitation and the maintenance of peace along the Line of Actual Control. The meeting comes ahead of Chinese President Xi Jinping's expected visit to India for the BRICS summit, which would be his first trip to the country in seven years. Both sides reviewed the momentum of bilateral ties following directions from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Xi Jinping, specifically referencing consensus reached in Kazan in October 2024 and Tianjin in August 2025. Doval stated that the return to normalcy in the relationship is a direct result of both nations maintaining peace and tranquility in border areas. The two representatives discussed the resumption of border trade through three designated passes and the conduct of the Kailash Manasarovar Yatra. While Wang Yi emphasized the global significance of the relationship and the need to build mutual trust, the Indian side highlighted that border peace is essential for the overall development of bilateral ties. Neither side provided specific details on the actual progress made regarding the demarcation of the 3,488km border.
