Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian will travel to New Delhi in September to attend the 18th BRICS Summit. India is hosting the summit under its 2026 chairship with the theme of "Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability."
Iran joined BRICS as a full member in 2024. The grouping expanded further in 2025 when Indonesia joined, bringing the total number of full members to 11. President Pezeshkian previously met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in October 2024 during the BRICS summit in Kazan, Russia.
In June, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi visited India for the BRICS Foreign Ministers' Meeting.
