JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon Leads Cross Industry Initiative to Address AI Risks

JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon is urging corporate leaders to join a U.S. focused industry group to address the risks posed by artificial intelligence. Dimon has personally reached out to CEOs of major regional banks and IT companies to expand the Alliance for Critical Infrastructure, a group JPMorgan helped found. The outreach, which began in July, includes over 40 companies across sectors such as financial services, energy, water, utilities, telecommunications, airlines, and railroads.

The initiative aims to develop a shared understanding of AI usage, identify risks, and establish necessary safeguards. Sources indicate the group intends to work with the Trump administration on these issues. The need for increased information sharing has been highlighted by recent cyberattacks on water systems in Minnesota and other states. The revamped Alliance for Critical Infrastructure is expected to be fully functional by the end of the year.

Dimon has been a vocal critic of certain advanced AI systems, specifically warning that access to capabilities like Anthropic's Mythos AI model must be controlled. He compared providing access to Mythos to giving ballistic missiles to individuals. This effort is separate from a different industry initiative where banks are testing the Mythos model. This private sector movement follows the U.S. government's launch of the Gold Eagle initiative in July, which coordinates AI developers and federal agencies to fix vulnerabilities discovered by advanced AI models.
