A man was detained by French police on Monday after attacking three women with two kitchen knives near Porte de Clichy in northern Paris. The victims, aged 19, 24, and 36, were taken to the hospital; two were seriously wounded in the abdomen and lower back, though their lives are not in danger. The mayor of the 17th district reported that one of the women was pregnant.

The suspect was apprehended by an off-duty police officer with the help of bystanders. Witnesses reported that a man hit the suspect with a suitcase to knock him down, and another person pinned him to the ground using a chair. Video footage shows the attacker wearing a cream tracksuit and possessing long black hair.

There is conflicting reporting regarding the motive behind the attack. Interior Minister Laurent Nunez stated that the suspect made incoherent statements and warned against jumping to conclusions. However, other reports indicate the man shouted that Allah commanded him to kill women. The French national anti-terrorist prosecutor's office is currently weighing whether to open an investigation.
