- A hatched block means the outlet is affiliated with, or controlled by, a state.
Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.
Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.
The owner of each outlet is listed as a matter of record, not as a judgement about the outlet.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg apologized to the Indian government for the presence of child sexual abuse material, deepfake content, and other operational lapses on the company's platforms. According to reports from the financial news publication Moneycontrol and other local media, the apology occurred during a meeting between Meta executives and Indian government officials. In July, the Indian government ordered Meta to remove advertisements and content promoting child sexual abuse material on Instagram. The government also requested an explanation within seven days regarding how such advertisements were permitted on the platform.
Additional tensions have emerged regarding content involving Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Meta's global head of Public Policy, Joel Kaplan, apologized to India's Information Technology Minister for an operational error that temporarily restricted a post by the Prime Minister in July. Furthermore, police in Hyderabad have opened a case against Meta's India director, Arun Srinivas, over Facebook videos that allegedly portrayed Modi in an offensive manner. These incidents coincide with a period of significant youth protests in India following the leak of national exam evidence and the subsequent resignation of the education minister.
