Michael Carrick calls for further Manchester United signings as Marcus Rashford returns

Manchester United manager Michael Carrick has stated that the club needs to add more quality and depth to the squad to challenge for the Premier League title and compete in the Champions League. While Carrick expressed satisfaction with the signings of Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos, who cost a combined total of approximately £83 million to £85 million, he emphasized that the club must continue to seek reinforcements. He specifically noted the need to enhance the squad despite financial constraints, ruling out a single signing worth £100 million this summer.

Marcus Rashford has rejoined the squad at the training camp in County Kildare following loan spells at Barcelona and Aston Villa. Rashford's return follows a period of strained relations with the club's executive and former head coach Ruben Amorim. While reports indicate that both the player and the club would prefer a departure to reduce the wage bill, Carrick described Rashford as a very good player who still has much to offer the group. When asked about Rashford's future beyond the September 1 deadline, Carrick repeatedly stated that Rashford is their player.

Carrick, who guided the team to a third place finish last season, acknowledged the challenge of competing with other big six clubs that have spent over £100 million on single players. He stated that the team has the potential to achieve something special, though he declined to give a definite answer on whether they can win the title without a £100 million player in the squad.
