Actress Michelle Yeoh has been selected as the Asian Filmmaker of the Year for the 31st Busan International Film Festival (BIFF). Organizers announced the selection on Thursday, stating that the award will be presented at the opening ceremony on October 6. The festival is scheduled to run from October 6 to October 15 in the city of Busan.
This honor marks Yeoh's first return to the festival since 2011, when she visited for the film The Lady. A special program at this year's event will highlight four of her films: Reign of Assassins, Everything Everywhere All at Once, the 2026 short Sandiwara, and her latest feature, It's My Time.
Yeoh is recognized for her significant contributions to cinema, starting with her debut in Yes, Madam! in 1985.
