Mossad Director Removes Senior Officials Following Failed Iran Regime Change Plan

Mossad Director Roman Gofman has removed the heads of the agency's Intelligence Directorate and Iran Division from their positions. The removals follow the failure of a plan to replace the Iranian regime, according to reports from N12 and Channel 12 News. The two officials, who were not named, reportedly conceived and drafted the proposal. While some sources describe the moves as part of a broader organizational shakeup or reorganization, others link the dismissals directly to the failure of the regime change effort. Reports indicate that the officials may remain within the Mossad in different roles and that their departures could be by mutual agreement due to a poor working relationship with Gofman.

The secret proposal, developed with the CIA, reportedly involved Kurdish ground forces entering Iran under Israeli and American air cover to help remove the Islamic Republic's leadership. According to reports, the plan included installing former president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as the next leader. The operation reportedly began to unravel during the first day of the war when an Israeli Air Force strike intended to free Ahmadinejad from house arrest wounded him instead. Following the strike, Ahmadinejad reportedly expressed doubts about the plan. Gofman reportedly believed those responsible for the plan should be held accountable after it was presented to US President Donald Trump but was not implemented on the ground.
