A new four part Amazon Prime documentary titled A Beautiful Obsession provides a behind the scenes look at Pep Guardiola's final two years as manager of Manchester City. The series reveals that Guardiola experienced a significant personal crisis in December 2024 when he separated from his wife, Cristina Serra, after ten years of marriage. In one scene, Guardiola spoke to his players in the locker room after a Champions League loss to Juventus, stating that while he still loved his ex wife, the passion had ended. He used the moment to urge his players to perform with passion in their own lives and careers.

The documentary also highlights professional friction during a difficult run in the autumn of 2024, when the team won only once in 13 games.
