Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky visited the United Kingdom on Monday for talks with new Prime Minister Andy Burnham. Zelensky was the first international visitor since Burnham took office last week. The two leaders met at a naval base in Portsmouth, where they spoke with more than 200 Ukrainian military personnel who have been participating in Exercise Sea Breeze, a maritime and counter-mine exercise focused on the Black Sea.
During the visit, Burnham pledged that the UK is with Ukraine 100 percent and intends to honor all previous commitments. He announced that Britain will share the intellectual property for its new Stone Cloak electronic warfare system. These tablet-sized jammers are designed to prevent drones from being detected and will allow Ukraine to produce the technology at scale. Downing Street noted that this technology will also be integrated into future long-range weapons, including Project Brakestop's low-cost cruise missiles.
The meeting follows a visit to Kyiv by Burnham's predecessor, Sir Keir Starmer, who provided 255 million pounds in funding shortly before leaving office. Total UK support for Ukraine has reached 25 billion pounds. Burnham stated he intends to visit Ukraine soon and expressed support for achieving a full and unconditional ceasefire through negotiations that include Ukraine and Europe.
