King Harald V of Norway passed away on Friday, August 28, at the age of 89. A state funeral is scheduled for September 9 at 13:00 in the Oslo Cathedral, followed by a private ceremony and burial in the royal mausoleum at Akershus Fortress. To secure the event, Oslo police announced temporary airspace restrictions and traffic closures on Karl Johans gate between 10:00 and 15:00. Following his accession, King Haakon will end his long term as a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations Development Programme, a role he has held since 2003.
