Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.
Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.
The owner of each outlet is listed as a matter of record, not as a judgement about the outlet.
Every outlet covering this story shares the same political lean; read with that in mind.
OpenAI has launched a dedicated ChatGPT mode for teenagers designed to limit exposure to high risk content and provide educational support. The new modality automatically applies to users who identify as being between 13 and 17 years old or those whom OpenAI systems estimate to be under 18. To detect younger users, the company monitors over 2,000 signals, including login times and the phrasing of prompts. In India, this includes analyzing usage patterns around school dismissal times and the frequent uploading of handwritten notes.
The teen mode includes stricter restrictions on content related to self harm, graphic violence, and sexual or romantic roleplay. It also introduces a Study Mode to help students with assignments and test preparation. This feature includes responsible homework reminders that encourage students to solve problems step by step rather than receiving immediate answers. Additionally, the system can send alerts to parents who have activated notifications, though these controls do not allow parents to read or supervise the actual conversations.
Other safety measures include reminders to take a break after 90 minutes of activity within a three hour window and strengthened protections to prevent the AI from expressing personal feelings toward users. The system also alerts users when they attempt to upload private or sensitive images.
The launch occurs amid significant scrutiny regarding the impact of AI on youth. One center leaning report notes that parent groups in cities like New York and Los Angeles are concerned that AI may harm critical thinking. Another center leaning report highlights more severe legal challenges, including lawsuits in California and Florida alleging that the chatbot has exacerbated mental health crises or acted as a suicide coach. It also cites a criminal investigation into a mass shooting at Florida State University and a murder case involving a 17 year old in the US.
