Prime Minister Narendra Modi Visits Uzbekistan Ahead of SCO Summit

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, on August 29, 2026, for a two day state visit. He was received by Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The two leaders are scheduled to hold bilateral meetings to discuss trade, investment, defence, digital connectivity, energy, and education. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the discussions will also focus on the shared developmental visions of Viksit Bharat 2047 and Uzbekistan 2030. During his visit, Prime Minister Modi participated in a yoga program organized by the Yoga Federation of Uzbekistan and met with members of the Indian diaspora. He is also expected to visit the Shastri Memorial and the Mahatma Gandhi Centre at the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies. Following his time in Uzbekistan, the Prime Minister will travel to the Kyrgyz Republic for the 26th SCO Summit on August 31 and September 1, where he will address the forum on security, connectivity, and opportunity. He is also slated to attend the Opening Ceremony of the 6th World Nomad Games.
