- A hatched block means the outlet is affiliated with, or controlled by, a state.
Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.
Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.
The owner of each outlet is listed as a matter of record, not as a judgement about the outlet.
Specialized protective eyewear is required to safely observe the solar eclipse occurring on Wednesday, August 12. The phenomenon will be visible along a path crossing the Arctic Ocean, Greenland, Iceland, the Atlantic Ocean, France, Portugal, and northern Spain to the island of Majorca. In France, where the eclipse will be partial, observation will take place between 19:00 in the North and 21:30 in the South. Protection is available at pharmacies, opticians, and supermarkets. The Ministry of Health warned on July 22 that demand would likely be very high and stock shortages are expected. Alain Cirou, director general of the French Astronomy Association, previously noted that prefects could prohibit gatherings if there is insufficient organization or protection. Observing the eclipse without adequate protection can cause irreversible damage to the eyes.
