Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.

Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.

At least four people, including two children, were killed in recent Russian attacks across several Ukrainian provinces. In Sumy, two girls aged 5 and 10 and an elderly woman died after guided bombs struck civilian infrastructure. In Mykolaiv, an 89 year old woman was killed in a strike on a residential area. Additional attacks were reported in Odesa, Kherson, and Donetsk, including a strike on the center of Kramatorsk that left about ten people injured. The Ukrainian Air Force reported that Russia launched an Iskander M ballistic missile and 136 attack drones overnight on August 4, with 117 drones being shot down or jammed.

Beyond these specific strikes, there has been a broader pattern of attacks on civilian targets. Reports indicate a significant increase in strikes on gas stations in eastern and central Ukraine, with over 200 facilities destroyed by early July. In some regions, up to 20 gas stations are targeted per week. Additionally, Russian forces have targeted agricultural logistics and port workers. Pro Russian channels have framed these strikes as a strategy to provoke panic and retaliate for Ukrainian attacks on Russian refineries.

Outlets with a center right lean emphasize the deliberate targeting of civilian infrastructure and the resulting humanitarian impact. Outlets with a center left lean focus on the specific casualties and the technical details of the aerial assaults.
