- A hatched block means the outlet is affiliated with, or controlled by, a state.
Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.
Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.
The owner of each outlet is listed as a matter of record, not as a judgement about the outlet.
Every outlet covering this story shares the same political lean; read with that in mind.
At least 15 people were killed and dozens more injured in Kyiv following a massive Russian missile and drone barrage on August 20. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that the attacks damaged a children's hospital and a critical infrastructure facility, the latter of which may cause hot water disruptions in the Desnianskyi and Dniprovskyi districts. President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the attack combined ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones to target civilian infrastructure. The city has declared August 21 a day of mourning.
Simultaneously, Ukraine conducted long range strikes against Russian energy infrastructure. The Ukrainian General Staff confirmed that drones struck the Taneco oil refinery in the Republic of Tatarstan and the Tamanneftegaz oil terminal in Krasnodar Krai. The Taneco refinery, located approximately 1,200 kilometers from Ukraine, is a major Tatneft owned facility that supplies the Russian army. Satellite monitoring from NASA's FIRMS system detected a fire at the Tamanneftegaz terminal. Reports also indicated that the 500 kilovolt Taman electrical substation, which supplies power to occupied Crimea, was targeted.
