At least eight people were killed in a wave of Russian missile and drone attacks across Ukraine on Thursday, following warnings from President Volodymyr Zelenskyy that a massive strike was imminent. The highest number of casualties occurred in the central city of Kryvyi Rih, where an Iskander-M ballistic missile launched from Voronezh struck a private home belonging to a large family, killing six people, including two girls aged five and twelve. Additionally, one death was confirmed in Kyiv and another in Poltava.

In the western city of Lviv, Russian missiles damaged residential apartment buildings, leaving several people injured; some reports indicate up to 15 injuries in that city. In Kyiv, Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported fires across several districts caused by ballistic weapons. Amid the strikes, Poland scrambled fighter jets and early warning aircraft as a preventive measure to secure its airspace.

President Zelenskyy reiterated requests for allies to provide more air defense missiles, specifically mentioning Patriot systems, stating that the protection of Ukrainian lives depends on the willingness of partners to supply these weapons. Some reports also noted that Ukraine lost an F-16 fighter jet while attempting to intercept hostile objects during the attack.

Simultaneously, a Ukrainian drone attack targeted a warehouse of the online retailer Wildberries in the Russian city of Penza. Regional authorities reported that one person was injured and approximately 200 people were evacuated as the facility caught fire. While Zelenskyy has accused the company of supplying military equipment to the Russian army, the Kremlin has denied these claims.
