Santos has secured a place in the round of 16 of the Copa Sul-Americana after defeating Venezuela's Universidad Central (UCV) 4-2 on Tuesday at Vila Belmiro. This result brings the aggregate score to 8-3 in favor of Santos, following their 4-1 victory in the first leg.

Despite the win, Santos faced an early challenge when Samuel Sosa scored for UCV just 20 seconds into the match following a defensive error by Adonis Frías. Santos responded in the first half with an equalizing goal from Miguelito in the 38th minute. In the second half, manager Cuca introduced Neymar, Gabriel Bontempo, and Lucas Veríssimo to the lineup. The momentum shifted as Gabigol and Gabriel Menino scored to give Santos the lead, although Gonzalo Mottes managed to score a second goal for UCV in the 26th minute of the second half. Rony scored in the final minute of stoppage time to finalize the 4-2 victory.

Santos is scheduled to face Macará of Ecuador in the round of 16, with dates and times to be confirmed by Conmebol. Should they advance to the quarterfinals, Santos will play the winner of the match between Atlético Mineiro and Red Bull Bragantino or Sporting Cristal.
