Seven people died on Friday evening following a head-on collision between a GMC Chevette and a Mercedes Benz truck on kilometer 22 of provincial route 192. The accident occurred near the town of Torres, on the border between the districts of Luján and Exaltación de la Cruz. The impact happened around 9:00 PM during a severe storm with heavy rain and wind that reduced visibility.

Eight people were traveling in the car. Seven died at the scene, including three minors aged 10, 12, and 15. The sole survivor, 21 year old Ignacio Sabot, was rescued in critical condition and transported to Hospital San José in Capilla del Señor, where he remains in intensive care. The two occupants of the truck, identified as 22 year old Juan Bautista Rodríguez and 53 year old Mariano Humberto Desandi, were uninjured.

Emergency responders from the Luján and Parada Robles volunteer fire departments, along with scientific police experts from Campana, attended the scene. The truck belonged to the company Tres Arroyos and was traveling without cargo. Prosecutor Matías Nogueiras of the Exaltación de la Cruz District has opened an investigation for involuntary manslaughter.

Investigators are analyzing the vehicle's capacity as a contributing factor. The GMC Chevette was homologated for a maximum of five passengers but was carrying eight people at the time of the crash. The vehicle is a model that ceased production in 1993.
