Severe Weather Alerts Issued for Argentina and Central United States

Severe weather alerts have been issued for parts of Argentina and the central United States. In Argentina, the Servicio Meteorológico Nacional reports that storms and strong gusts of up to 50 kilometers per hour will affect the Área Metropolitana de Buenos Aires on Friday. While temperatures may reach 20 degrees Celsius during these storms, a marked drop is expected by Sunday, with minimums falling to 8 degrees Celsius. Other regions in Argentina are under alert: yellow alerts for rain and snow cover parts of Neuquén, Río Negro, Chubut, Santa Cruz, and Tierra del Fuego, while an orange alert is active for western Patagonia. In the United States, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the National Weather Service have warned of severe storms and flash flood risks across the Great Plains and Midwest. Affected areas include South Dakota, Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota, Kansas, and Missouri, where rainfall could exceed 75 millimeters. These conditions are attributed to a low pressure system from Canada replacing a recent heat dome. Authorities are also monitoring potential impacts on the Lollapalooza festival in Chicago due to predicted lightning and heavy rain on Friday and Saturday.
