Student Shooting at School in Nonthaburi Province, Thailand

A 14 year old student killed at least five people during a shooting at Debsirin Nonthaburi, a prestigious secondary school located northwest of Bangkok. The victims included teachers and school staff. The attacker also killed his grandparents, aged 73 and 74, at their shared home before heading to the school. The shooter later died from a self inflicted gunshot wound to the head while being transported to a hospital. Including the attacker, the total death toll is reported as eight by one source and at least seven by another.

More than 30 people were injured, with nine in serious condition. Authorities state the shooter used a legally registered 9mm pistol belonging to his grandfather. Investigators found that the shooter fired at least 26 times. The attack lasted approximately one hour. Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul stated that police are investigating the hypothesis that the student suffered from academic stress, though he noted the attack appeared well prepared with clear objectives.

Police found evidence that the teenager frequently played video games, although they have not established a formal link between the hobby and the crime. Forensic experts noted the shooter displayed significant precision. This event is described as the worst massacre in Thailand since October 2022, when a former police officer killed over 30 people at a childcare center.
