  • A hatched block means the outlet is affiliated with, or controlled by, a state.

Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.

Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.

The owner of each outlet is listed as a matter of record, not as a judgement about the outlet.

The Swedish Parliament approved a reduction in the age of criminal responsibility from 15 to 14 years on Thursday. The new law will take effect on September 10, which is three days before the country's general elections. The measure passed with 281 votes in favor, including support from the opposition Social Democrats, while 66 lawmakers voted against it.

The conservative government led by Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson has made fighting crime a central pillar of its political program since taking power in 2022. While the government initially proposed lowering the age to 13, a majority of 126 consulted organizations, including the police and prison service, opposed that lower age. A government appointed commissioner had recommended the age of 14.

Prime Minister Kristersson governs as a minority with the support of the far right Sweden Democrats party. According to a Demoskop poll for the newspaper Svenska Dagbladet, the center left opposition currently leads the right wing parties with 51 percent of the vote compared to 47 percent, although the margin is narrowing.
