- A hatched block means the outlet is affiliated with, or controlled by, a state.
Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.
Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.
The owner of each outlet is listed as a matter of record, not as a judgement about the outlet.
Taiwan's Directorate General of Budget, Accounting and Statistics (DGBAS) has raised its gross domestic product growth forecast to 11.05 percent for 2026. This projection represents the fastest annual growth since 1987, when the economy expanded by 12.75 percent. The upward revision is attributed to robust global demand for artificial intelligence applications and infrastructure investment by major cloud service providers.
Export growth is a primary driver of this economic surge. Merchandise exports are projected to grow by 41.19 percent in 2026, reaching US$903.6 billion. This would mark the fastest growth in 50 years. The semiconductor industry, including the world's largest contract chipmaker TSMC, is central to this trend as companies like Nvidia and Apple rely on Taiwanese supplies.
Domestic indicators also show strength. Private investment growth is now forecast at 11.58 percent, while private consumption is expected to grow by 4.76 percent due to a buoyant stock market and a strong labor market. In the second quarter, Taiwan's GDP grew by 12.93 percent from a year earlier.
Inflation is expected to rise slightly, with the consumer price index forecast to grow by 2.07 percent in 2026. This figure exceeds the central bank's 2 percent inflation alert threshold. The DGBAS attributes this to component shortages caused by the AI boom and adverse weather affecting food prices.
Growth is expected to moderate in 2027, with a projected GDP increase of 6.04 percent. Inflationary pressures are forecast to ease during that period, with the consumer price index slowing to 1.90 percent.
