Three Dead and Several Injured in Idaho Shopping Center Shooting

Three people were killed and several others were injured during a shooting on Saturday afternoon at an In-N-Out Burger restaurant in Twin Falls, Idaho. Twin Falls Police Chief Matthew Hicks confirmed that the shooter was among the dead and that the threat to the community has ended. The incident began around 2:30 p.m. local time in a high traffic commercial area. While one report stated three people died and at least two were injured, another report indicated that three were killed and seven others were injured, some critically. Officials cautioned that these preliminary figures could change as the investigation continues.

Witnesses described a chaotic scene. One witness reported seeing a person with an AR style rifle emerge from the drive thru and being engaged by a man with a pistol. Another witness described seeing an employee drag a bleeding coworker across the parking lot. Video footage reportedly showed a person dressed in black accessing a trunk of a white car before the shooting. The restaurant had opened only a week prior on July 24 as part of the company's expansion into Idaho.

Emergency responders closed nearby roads and a bridge immediately following the report. Shelter in place orders were issued and later lifted. Multiple victims were taken to St. Luke's Magic Valley Medical Center, which remained open for emergency services but stopped accepting visitors during the incident. The FBI is assisting local police in identifying the gunman and determining a motive. Senator Mike Crapo, a Republican from Idaho, urged the public to obey law enforcement directions and praised the response of first responders.
