  • A hatched block means the outlet is affiliated with, or controlled by, a state.

Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.

Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.

The owner of each outlet is listed as a matter of record, not as a judgement about the outlet.

U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Monday that he will demand compensation from Iran for people killed and wounded in various conflicts, attacks, and domestic protests. This demand follows requests from Tehran for war reparations from the United States and Israel as a condition for reopening the Strait of Hormuz. Trump stated on Truth Social and to reporters at the White House that the U.S. would seek payment for damages caused over a 50 year period, including compensation for families of protesters killed by the Iranian government and victims of roadside bombs. Trump also called for compensation for the 17 U.S. sailors killed in the October 2000 bombing of the USS Cole in Yemen, although the FBI attributed that attack to al Qaeda rather than Iran. Additionally, Trump asserted that Iran should be responsible for deaths and damages in Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, and Gaza.

Iran had previously indicated it was nearing a deal with Oman to define new shipping lanes through the Strait of Hormuz. However, Tehran reiterated that the waterway would remain closed until the U.S. meets conditions including an end to sanctions, a cessation of military threats, and the payment of reparations for damages incurred during five months of conflict. The strait, which carries about a fifth of global oil and liquefied natural gas, has been effectively blocked since the war began in February. Oil prices rose by 5 percent on Monday following Trump's demands.

While Trump claimed on Monday that the United States Navy currently controls the Strait of Hormuz, some reports indicate that U.S. military efforts have not broken Iran's grip on the waterway. In a separate development reported by the Washington Post, it was revealed that Trump secretly departed Turkey on a C-32A aircraft instead of the publicly announced Air Force One due to a credible Iranian assassination threat.
