TSE Suspends Party Affiliation System After Flávio Bolsonaro Unduly Linked to Missão Party

The Superior Electoral Court (TSE) suspended the processing of new party affiliations on Thursday, June 13, after Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL) appeared as a member of the Missão party. This error initially prevented the registration of his candidacy for the Presidency of the Republic. TSE President Minister Kassio Nunes Marques subsequently ordered the restoration of Bolsonaro's affiliation with the PL and the removal of the link to the Missão party from his history. The TSE also noted that a similar attempt to alter the affiliation of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) was identified but not completed. The court suspended the system as a security measure to prevent further unauthorized changes while the case is investigated. The TSE stated that this suspension does not harm candidates because the legal deadline for party affiliation ended on April 4. The Missão party has filed a representation with the TSE requesting an investigation into the incident. The party claims it was a victim of fraud and that its own internal system failures allowed an unknown person to use false data to affiliate Bolsonaro. According to Missão, the fraudulent registration listed the candidate's address as Rua Dos Bandidos, number 666, Bairro Miliciano, in Rio de Janeiro. The party has reported the incident to the Federal Police.
