- A hatched block means the outlet is affiliated with, or controlled by, a state.
Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.
Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.
The owner of each outlet is listed as a matter of record, not as a judgement about the outlet.
Every outlet covering this story shares the same political lean; read with that in mind.
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) reported record consolidated sales for July, reaching NT$467.58 billion. This represents an increase of more than 44 percent from a year earlier and a 5.6 percent increase from June. Analysts attribute this growth to strong global demand for advanced chipmaking processes, including 2 nanometer technology, amid the artificial intelligence boom.
For the first seven months of the year, TSMC's consolidated sales totaled NT$2.87 trillion, a 37 percent increase over the same period last year. The company has expressed confidence in long term AI growth and has revised its 2026 sales guidance upward, now projecting growth of slightly more than 40 percent in U.S. dollar terms. Additionally, TSMC raised its 2026 capital expenditure forecast to between US$60 billion and US$64 billion to meet demand for AI applications, 5G, and high performance computing devices.
While the company shows strong growth, some market volatility persists. Major technology firms including Alphabet, Meta, Microsoft, and Amazon have committed nearly US$2.4 trillion to AI infrastructure. However, some investors have expressed concerns regarding whether these massive expenditures will generate significant returns and whether there is an excess of data center capacity.
