Two Migrant Workers Killed in Kulgam Terror Attack

Two non local laborers from Chhattisgarh were killed after terrorists opened fire on them at a brick kiln in the Kelam area of Kulgam, south Kashmir. The attack occurred on the evening of July 31, 2026. One worker, identified as Deepak, was killed instantly, while a second worker, identified as Bhopendra, died on August 1 while receiving treatment for chest injuries at a hospital. The attackers fled the scene under the cover of darkness, prompting security forces to launch search operations in the region and increase security for the Amarnath yatra.

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha condemned the attack as brutal and cowardly, directing security forces to intensify operations to eliminate the terrorists. This incident marks the second attack in the region within two weeks, following the July 22 killing of Head Constable Aashiq Hussain Qureshi in Anantnag.
