- A hatched block means the outlet is affiliated with, or controlled by, a state.
Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.
Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.
The owner of each outlet is listed as a matter of record, not as a judgement about the outlet.
President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that the United Kingdom and France have granted approval for Ukraine to produce long range Storm Shadow and SCALP missiles. According to Zelensky, French President Emmanuel Macron confirmed that restrictions on the missiles and related licenses would be lifted. The UK government stated on August 24 that the European defense company MBDA will share classified technical information regarding British made parts of the missiles with Ukraine. These cruise missiles have a range of up to 250 kilometers and are designed for precision strikes on fixed targets.
The announcement occurred during a meeting in Kyiv between Zelensky and Estonian President Alar Karis. During the discussions, Zelensky noted that Ukraine expects a timeline within seven to 10 days for the Freyja joint anti ballistic missile system project. He also mentioned that Norway has confirmed 9 billion dollars in financial support for 2027, which Oslo intends to use to help finance the Freyja project. Additionally, Ukraine will receive Crotale air defense systems, VT 1 missiles, AIM missiles, and more missiles for Patriot systems, though the providing country was not specified.
The Kremlin criticized the decision, with spokesperson Dmitry Peskov describing the move as fuel on the fire and stating that Russia is gathering information on potential production sites. While one center leaning source focused on the broad strategic approvals and diplomatic meetings, a center left leaning source framed the event specifically as the UK backing Ukraine with missile blueprints.
