- A hatched block means the outlet is affiliated with, or controlled by, a state.
Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.
Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.
The owner of each outlet is listed as a matter of record, not as a judgement about the outlet.
Every outlet covering this story shares the same political lean; read with that in mind.
The UK Foreign Office has raised the case of Finn Joughin, a 22 year old student activist, with Israeli authorities after he was detained by settlers in the occupied West Bank. Joughin was arrested in Umm Al-Kheir on Saturday after being forcibly detained by settlers who had advanced on the Palestinian village. His family stated that he was due to be deported from Israel on Monday.
Israeli police reported that security personnel of a settler community detained Joughin on suspicion of an indecent act against a minor. Following questioning, police took the suspect into custody and stated that the investigation remains ongoing. Conversely, Joughin's lawyer and fellow activists deny these allegations. They assert that Joughin was attempting to protect Palestinian property and that settler children were the ones who approached him.
Footage seen by the BBC appears to show Joughin using his body to protect a fence as a child pushes against him. The incident occurred amid a surge in settler attacks on Palestinians and their property since the start of the Gaza war. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Isaac Herzog condemned recent violence in the West Bank, with Herzog calling it the crossing of a red line.
