- A hatched block means the outlet is affiliated with, or controlled by, a state.
Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.
Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.
The owner of each outlet is listed as a matter of record, not as a judgement about the outlet.
The US dollar experienced a broad decline against several global currencies on Monday, August 17. In Asia, the US dollar fell 0.61 percent to close at NT$31.852 against the Taiwan dollar, marking the first time it has ended below the NT$32 mark since July 3. Dealers attributed this drop to weaker than expected US retail sales for July, which reduced expectations for a Federal Reserve rate hike in September. In Canada, the US dollar opened at 1.39 Canadian dollars, a decrease of 0.16 percent. In Mexico, the currency opened at 17.02 pesos, reflecting a slight negative variation of 0.01 percent. In Guatemala, the US dollar opened at 7.62 quetzales, also showing a slight negative variation of 0.01 percent.
In Argentina, the official dollar closed at 1510 pesos for sale on the last business day, while the parallel blue dollar was priced at 1545 pesos. Because August 17 is a holiday in Argentina commemorating the passing of General José de San Martín, markets were closed and reference prices from the previous business day were used. Additionally, Argentina's inflation for July was reported at 2.1 percent, bringing the year to date increase to 19.3 percent.
