The US military killed four people on Tuesday during a strike on a boat in the Caribbean Sea, according to US Southern Command. The military stated that confirmed intelligence revealed the vessel was actively involved in narco-trafficking and described those killed as narco-terrorists. A video posted to X showed a boat in motion followed by a flash. No evidence was released to show the vessel was carrying drugs.

The administration has informed Congress that the US is in an armed conflict with drug cartels, which it uses to justify lethal attacks without judicial oversight. One count by AP news agency puts the toll at at least 227 people across 68 strikes, while another count puts the total at 229 victims across 67 attacks. The campaign is expanding into joint operations with other nations. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth stated that Colombia, Guatemala, and Honduras agreed to joint operations, although Guatemala has disputed this. Ecuador began similar operations in March.
