Vice President Hsiao Inspects Combined Urban Resilience and Military Drills

Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim inspected urban resilience drills in Kaohsiung on Friday to test Taiwan's ability to maintain essential operations and coordinate resources during high pressure situations. For the first time, these urban resilience exercises were merged with the annual Han Kuang military exercises to assess coordination between the military, government, and civilian sectors. During her visit to the Kaohsiung Fire Bureau and the Kaohsiung Veterans General Hospital, Hsiao emphasized that the drills were designed to ensure quick decision making and the effective mobilization of volunteers and private sector resources during major emergencies.

The exercises included simulations of medical evacuations and the management of mass casualties. In Kaohsiung, the Armed Forces Reserve Command established medical aid sites and conducted a campaign against disinformation to counter simulated Chinese cognitive warfare. Other defensive maneuvers took place across the region, including the deployment of tanks and armored vehicles to defend Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport and the construction of fortifications on the Danjiang Bridge in New Taipei City to block a simulated advance by the People's Liberation Army.
