Worldwide Microsoft Outlook Outage Disrupts Email Services

A widespread outage at Microsoft on Monday evening disrupted email traffic for millions of users globally. The disruption affected both private Outlook users and corporate customers of Microsoft 365. According to official status pages from the US software company, users experienced significant problems with logging in, sending emails, and receiving messages. Additional reports indicated that mailboxes failed to synchronize and the application froze.

Microsoft stated that the cause of the outage is located within the cloud infrastructure of Exchange Online. Specifically, a fault in a central authentication and connection component prevented proper access to mail servers. The company is tracking the incident under internal ID EX1464935. Technicians have initiated countermeasures and are currently rolling out a gradual update to the affected servers to restore services.

Complaints on monitoring portals such as Downdetector rose to tens of thousands in a short period. IT experts advise affected users not to change local computer settings or reinstall the software because the error is entirely server side. Users are also cautioned not to manually resend emails remaining in the outbox to avoid multiple deliveries. Microsoft has not yet specified when services will be fully restored worldwide without restrictions.
