Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.
Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.
The owner of each outlet is listed as a matter of record, not as a judgement about the outlet.
Every outlet covering this story shares the same political lean; read with that in mind.
A 15 year old boy was rescued alive on Monday after spending three days adrift in the Bering Sea near Alaska. The teenager survived on a capsized fishing boat that had been drifting since the group departed on Friday. His older brother and a cousin, both in their mid 30s, died in the incident.
The Coast Guard began searching for the group on Monday after they failed to return as planned on Sunday. Search efforts had been delayed due to difficult weather conditions. A Coast Guard aircraft eventually spotted the teenager, who was found severely hypothermic and clinging to the overturned vessel without food or water. Rescue crews dropped a life raft and survival equipment before a nearby ship, captained by Adam White, picked up the boy. White described the teenager as tough and called the survival incredible, noting that the water temperature was only ten degrees.
Both reports provided a factual account of the tragedy without significant differences in framing.
