An Air India captain was found dead in his room at a luxury hotel in South Delhi's Vasant Kunj on Friday. The pilot, identified as Captain Sunny Asladekar, had checked into The Grand on September 10 while in the capital for Boeing 787 conversion training. He had previously worked for Air India Express and had joined Air India a few months prior.
The incident came to light on Friday evening when the pilot's brother alerted hotel management that he was not responding to phone calls. The hotel manager discovered the room was locked from the inside and used a master key to enter, where he found the pilot unresponsive. Police and medical personnel arrived at the scene and transported him to a hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.
An autopsy was conducted at Safdarjung Hospital on September 12 to determine the cause of death. Police have initiated inquest proceedings under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita.
