Amotekun Rescues Kidnap Victims and Arrests Multiple Suspects in Ondo State

The Ondo State Security Network Agency, known as Amotekun, has rescued five kidnap victims and arrested 14 suspects across various offenses in Ondo State. Adetunji Adeleye, the commander of the corps, announced these developments during a press conference on Monday.

In one specific operation in the Parubber community of Ileoluji-Okeigbo Local Government Area, two livestock farm workers were kidnapped by masked gunmen armed with AK-47 rifles who demanded a ransom of 100 million naira. Following a directive from Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and a 72 hour operation involving the Department of State Services and other agencies, the victims were located several kilometers away in a reserve forest. A male victim was rescued alive, but a female victim was found dead. Commander Adeleye stated that the woman died due to the stress and exhaustion she endured during the abduction.

Amotekun also rescued two men in the Ala-Dada axis after receiving a distress call. Additionally, the agency dismantled a syndicate involved in kidnapping and cattle rustling in the Odigbo Local Government Area, specifically in Ore, Ode-Aye, Ofosu, and Omotosho. The commander noted that the stolen cattle were sold at very low prices in markets across the state.

Other arrests included two individuals, Akinlolu and Akintimi, for illegal possession of firearms. A 30 year old man named Jamiu was arrested for vandalizing buildings under construction, and another suspect, Olajide, was detained for stealing iron rods. Two other suspects, Ojo and Opayemi, were arrested in connection with a stolen motorcycle taken from Akure to Ore.

Commander Adeleye asserted that there is no hiding place for criminals in Ondo State and maintained that the state remains safe for residents and investors.
