  • A hatched block means the outlet is affiliated with, or controlled by, a state.

Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.

Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.

The owner of each outlet is listed as a matter of record, not as a judgement about the outlet.

Every source for this story reports from Brazil.

ApexBrasil has inaugurated its first permanent office on the African continent in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The office is intended to expand trade and investments while bringing Brazilian companies closer to African markets. Ethiopia is the second most populous country in Africa, with approximately 130 million inhabitants, and has been a member of the Brics group since 2024. Addis Ababa also serves as the headquarters of the African Union.

The announcement coincided with the celebration of Enkutatash, the Ethiopian New Year, which began on September 11. Ethiopia is noted for its ancient Christian tradition and its history of resisting colonization, specifically defeating Italian forces at the Battle of Adwa in 1896 and again during the fascist occupation between 1936 and 1941. The country utilizes a unique calendar of 13 months and the Amharic language, which is written in the Ethiopian fidel system.

Both reports emphasize that this new economic presence should move beyond traditional extraction or market conquest. They advocate for a South South cooperation based on reciprocity and the exchange of knowledge. The coverage also connects the theme of diverse development to the legacy of Professor Zélia Amador de Deus, a defender of Black rights and quilombola communities who passed away recently at age 76.
