  • A hatched block means the outlet is affiliated with, or controlled by, a state.

Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.

Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.

The owner of each outlet is listed as a matter of record, not as a judgement about the outlet.

Stock markets in Taiwan and South Korea both opened higher on Wednesday. The Taiwan Stock Exchange's main index opened up 36.96 points at 47,142.74 on turnover of NT$8.53 billion. In Seoul, the benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index opened 0.26 percent higher and later traded 65.98 points, or 0.93 percent, higher at 7,019.5 as of 9:15 a.m.

Gains in Seoul were driven by tech heavyweights, including Samsung Electronics, which rose 0.37 percent, and SK hynix, which rose 1.78 percent. Other gains included Hyundai Motor, which increased 0.78 percent, and Hanwha Aerospace, which advanced 2.43 percent. Hanwha Ocean gained 4.18 percent following its selection as the preferred bidder for a Royal Thai Navy frigate project valued at approximately $500 million. The Korean won traded at 1,339.4 won against the US dollar, an increase of 3.4 won from the previous session.

These gains in Seoul occurred despite rising oil prices and escalating tensions in the Middle East, which had caused US stocks to end lower overnight. However, the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index rose 1.3 percent due to optimism regarding artificial intelligence.
