Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.

Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.

The owner of each outlet is listed as a matter of record, not as a judgement about the outlet.

At least 11 people died after consuming spurious liquor in the Sagar district of Madhya Pradesh on September 6, 2026. The victims fell ill in four villages: Nauraj, Gogra Khurd, Bamura, and Patan. Initial post mortem examinations indicated that the consumption of methyl alcohol caused the deaths. One survivor reported purchasing the fake alcohol from a small grocery shop in his village.

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav described the deaths as extremely distressing and unfortunate, stating that no guilty party will be spared. In response, the government suspended three excise officials and two police officers. State Excise Commissioner Deepak Saxena noted that these officials failed to act on previous complaints about spurious liquor sales in the area.

Police have detained 12 suspects for questioning. Sagar Collector Pratibha Pal and Superintendent of Police Anurag Sujania stated that the investigation points to a gang from Lalitpur, Uttar Pradesh, which is believed to be supplying the methyl alcohol. One report further notes that the gang mimicked established Madhya Pradesh brands to sell the concoction. A doctors team is currently screening residents in the affected villages to identify others who may have fallen ill.
