- A hatched block means the outlet is affiliated with, or controlled by, a state.
Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.
Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.
The owner of each outlet is listed as a matter of record, not as a judgement about the outlet.
American Ben Shelton and Germany's Alexander Zverev will compete for the men's singles title at the US Open this Sunday. Shelton reached his first Grand Slam final by defeating fellow American Frances Tiafoe in four sets, 4-6, 6-3, 6-3, 7-5. The match lasted three hours and 17 minutes and featured a star studded crowd including Serena Williams and Jalen Brunson. Shelton, the 23 year old left handed player, recorded 20 aces during the match. He is now attempting to become the first American man to win a Grand Slam title since Andy Roddick in 2003.
Alexander Zverev secured his place in the final by defeating Russia's Karen Khachanov in straight sets, 6-3, 7-6 (9-7), 7-6 (8-6). Zverev, who won the French Open earlier this year, has reached three consecutive Grand Slam finals in 2026. He previously reached the US Open final in 2020, where he lost to Dominic Thiem. Zverev noted that he looks forward to the match but hopes to prevent the American dream from coming true.
The semifinals took place on the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks. The event included a ceremony where the American flag was unfurled across the court and the national anthem was performed. Shelton expressed his prayers for the families impacted by the tragedy during his post match interview.
Outlets with a center left lean emphasized the emotional weight of the 9/11 anniversary and Shelton's personal growth and maturity. Center right outlets focused more on the historical records Zverev is chasing and the technical details of the match play. Center outlets provided a balanced account of the results and the broader implications for American tennis.
